Better Components build Superior Seeds
Germplasm
With
today’s computer-aided genetic selection and
rapidly advancing technologies, it takes a
thorough knowledge of genetic makeup to
“build” a better seed. Crow’s stays in
constant contact with industry experts, and
we understand the changes that are taking
place in the market. This enables us to
provide customers with a choice of
genetically diverse seeds to fill their
needs.
Seed companies that rely solely on their
own breeding systems generally have one
inbred that has a big influence on
several products. So even if you plant
different numbers, you’re not always
guaranteed they’re genetically diverse – you
may still be reliant on the same, or very
similar, germplasm. It’s also important to
utilize the right genetic family on the
right soil type, with the right fertility
program, and in the right cropping pattern.
Crow’s offers a genetic lineup that’s second to none. And we’re ready to help you
make the best decisions and place the right
hybrids and varieties in the right
situations. For a quick reference of our

Biotechnology Traits To
truly be a trusted seed source, we must
bring the most valuable biotechnology to
the farmer. Crow’s provides the most
economically and environmentally
appropriate product options possible. We
want these trait-specific seeds to yield
healthy plants and bountiful harvests,
while helping improve today’s
environmental footprint.
Biotechnology events are another
component that improves productivity and
profitability on the farm. We strive to
help plants perform better than they
ever could before. If a technology event
is not the right choice – or even if
there is a question about its economic
value to the customer – we’ll say so.
Only after thorough evaluation will
we offer events like Roundup Ready ® ,
YieldGard® Corn Borer and the new YieldGard®Plus
in our bags. Be assured,
each biologic event listed in this guide
has been placed into the right products
for our customers. Seed Treatments Advancements inside the seed have
bolted onto the scene faster than
anyone could have predicted. Yet
there may be just as many
technological advances occurring on
the outside of the seed.
Crow’s seed
treatment options have been
strengthened by the addition of
Cruiser ® , Cruiser Extreme™ Pak and Cruiser ® 10X to seed
choices. Growers now have a wide
range of ways to fight early-season
disease, with unsurpassed protection
from a broad spectrum of damaging
pests. According to university and
independent tests, these treatment
options bring significant value to
your farm.
The success of Cruiser
Extreme Pak has been outstanding.
Throughout all Channel Group
companies, sales of this component
increased 700 percent in just the
last year. Our research shows
Cruiser Extreme Pak wins
three-fourths of all side-by-side
test plots, when compared to
untreated hybrids. In fact, Cruiser
Extreme Pak produced nearly a six
bushel/acre advantage in 2003, while
controlling targeted insects and
broadening the spectrum of disease
control. Seed Quality In keeping with our mission to be
American farmers’ most trusted seed
source, we continually strive for
the best, most efficient methods to
help you improve your profits. Seed
quality is a key factor that
separates our seed from others.
Seed is a living organism. It may
look fine on the outside, but be
lacking in quality on the “inside.”
Through generations of experience,
we’ve learned to maintain the
strictest quality control measures
during seed production and to
scrutinize our seed at every step,
until it’s in the ground.
Our ability to condition and
sort seed corn has been greatly
assisted by the addition of the most
advanced technology available in the
seed industry: the Satake 80-Channel
Color Sorter. This state-of-the art
computerized machine utilizes
high-resolution cameras to pick up
defects as small as 4/1000 of an
inch. Because this device rejects
seed that would never have
been rejected in a conventional
production process, every kernel of
seed in our bags is of
exceptional germination and vigor.
