Genetic Diversity Chart

Genetic Diversity is an important consideration in product selection. At least 2 or 3 genetic families are recommended for your operation to effectively manage environmental risks that can occur from year to year. This chart provides a brief description of each of the groups that are used in our product charts, as well as some of the popular products that are typical of that group.

Description Product
Caution*
A Excellent health, somewhat fixed ears, excellent choice for continuous corn, consistent performance, plant up to 15% thicker for best yield response. GR
C Widely adapted, excellent yield potential, semi-fl ex ear that responds to high populations/inputs.
F Excellent plant health and integrity, excellent standability, semi-fixed, girthy ear, very responsive to high yield environments. GR
H Very widely adapted, very high yield potential, manage the roots, excellent drought tolerance, large flexible ear, responsive to nitrogen inputs. GR
J Excellent plant health, excellent drought tolerance, excellent grain quality, test weight and consistent yield performance, manage the roots. GR,SU
L Excellent plant health, very good natural ECB tolerance, excellent stress tolerance, plant up to 15-20% thicker for best yield response.
M Very high top-end yield. Large girthy ears. Excellent plant health and fall appearance GR,SU,PI
T

Very high top-end yield; excellent stalk and root. Medium plant height, large flexible ears. Strong western adaptation. Above-average test weight, below-average for GL tolerance. Responsive to high yield environments.

Y Excellent plant health. Girthy, semi-determinate ear type; medium-tall plant height. Extremely high yield potential. Excellent choice for continuous corn; keep on better soils; excellent GLS tolerance

Unrelated group. These are unrelated to other diversity groups and unrelated to others within this group

* CAUTION indicates a recommendation for reduced rates and/or drop nozzles for post-emergence application.
