How do I keep the lid from
flying off during transportations?
Always use straps or some other
cargo control device when the box is
transported by vehicle. Security
seals or "zip-ties" will not retain
the lid when exposed to highway
conditions, so a strap is required
to safely transport the box.
Is the SeedBox available in
other sizes or styles?
No. The capacity of 50 units of
seeds (2,500 lbs) is the most
popular size for bulk packaged seed.
Buckhorn introduced a 36 unit Side
Flow Container in the early 1990's,
but that product was discontinued.
The SeedBox is only available as a
57"L x 45"W x 65"W center flow
container.
If I put the SeedBox in the back
of my pick-up, how can I get the
seed out and into my planter?
The SeedBox was designed to work
with large seed handling equipment
and is not recommended for use with
a flat-bed trailer, or a pick-up
bed. With its four-way entry base,
the SeedBox can be raised with a
lift truck (minimal 3,000 lb.
capacity) so the seed can be
dispensed into a gravity wagon or
other seed loading equipment.
Several equipment manufacturers
offer seed delivery systems using
air, augers, and belt conveyors that
fit the SeedBox. One company is also
offering a planter that accepts a
SeedBox directly as part of the
planter.
Why can't I
place pallets or bags of seed on top
of the SeedBox?
The SeedBox lid does not contain
sufficient structure to support
loads other than another SeedBox.
Stacking pallets or bags on top of a
SeedBox may damage the lid or create
unsafe conditions and is not
recommended.
Is there
another way to assemble or nest the
SeedBox other than manually?
Yes, there are automated systems
and auxiliary equipment that will
lift and rotate the top ring for
nesting and/or assembly. Some of
these units will work with any
forklift. This type of
equipment may extend the usable life
of the SeedBox by eliminating part
damage from manual nesting and
assembly. |
